The market for digital downloads of films and television series is clearly taking off in Europe, but the business models remain uncertain and there are fears that its impact could erode other key distribution channels. There are concerns that downloading could affect television channels, DVD sales and possibly even video-on-demand. In this context, it is little wonder that content providers are not rushing into either download-to-own (DTO) or download-to-rent (DTR).
