European Union countries are being are being asked by the European Commission to hand over freed analogue spectrum to accomodate new, pan-European mobile services. In a document on spectrum management published last Thursday, the Commission said that it wished to "begin a discussion with the EU Member States on the extent to which part of spectrum [made available through analogue switch -off] could be made available for new pan-European services, including converged applications such as mobile TV and data services."
