As they head into the gift-giving season, stores everywhere are cashing in on growing awareness that what we buy affects the planet that supports us. You can't browse in a big-box store without seeing a product that claims to be "green;" companies are touting the earth-friendly colors of everything from cosmetics to cleaning products to SUVs. So, as I pondered my festive shopping duties, I wondered if I could make choices that were light on the earth.
