As a nondestructive evaluation method using ultrasonic waves, a new technique has been developed for the on-line measurement of the plastic strain ratio (r value) of cold-rolled steel sheet by a resonance electromag- netic-acoustic method. Conventionally, the plastic strain ratio (r value) of cold-rolled steel sheet is measured on specimens cut from the sheet.
