摘要

I seem to remember that our kids were pretty good at letting us know when they needed changing. Remorselessly. Endlessly. I'm not sure I would have appreciated an alarm further adding to the din of all that crying. This though, is the idea of Dr Takao Someya and his team at Tokyo University in Japan, who've developed cheap, disposable sensors that uses Wi-Fi to signal when a diaper is wet. This is just one possible application of the prototype technology - described as the world's first wireless organic sensor system that's flexible. "The mechanical flexibility of electronic devices is very important to open new applications in medical and healthcare because current devices are all made of hard materials," says Dr Someya.
