Polyester has long been the fiber of choice for acquisition and distribution layers in many consumer absorbent products. Its bulk and resilience is the key to moving moisture into the absorbent layers, better utilizing the unique characteristics of superab-sorbent polymer (SAP) and fluff pulp. As SAP levels are driven ever upward, this acquisition function becomes even more important. This article discusses how polyester can significantly improve the performance of adult incontinence airlaid cores in acquisition as well as other key product attributes.
