Nonstop innovation--this is, in a few words, the not-so-secret formula of long-lasting success for almost every industry positioned in a free market. This becomes even more true as markets mature and evolve to a more competitive scene. Today, the nonwovens market has definitely reached this mature position, getting very competitive and becoming more and more global. As a result, only competitive, flexible and innovative companies are succeeding and, most importantly, hope to keep succeeding. The product life cycle has been getting shorter, resulting in the need to create new products and processes faster. But new products have to be innovative and incorporate a competitive advantage for the customer. If there's no competitive advantage, there's no value and no valuable innovation. Marketing orientation is no longer a success strategy if it is not integrated into a larger concept which we can define as a manufacturing/marketing orientation or simply an "innovation orientation."
