摘要

To provide mobile users with various services, which are almost the same as services on existing ATM networks, via wireless links, the developed prototype ATM wireless access (AWA) equipment needs to implement functions to cope with ATM signals. The ATM interface part to provide these functions consists of the following units; (1)physical interface unit to terminate the physical layer, (2)alarm processing unit to perform OAM (Operation And Maintenance) functions on the physical layer, (3)switch unit to handle VPI/ VCI, (3)transmitter and receiver buffer unit to guarantee the required quality of service and (5)OAM cell processing unit to perform OAM functions on the ATM layer.
