摘要

A method that allows one to estimate the information capacity of holographic memory and is not based on assumptions about statistical properties of the information is presented. The technique for estimation of crosstalk signals arising in the course of readout of diffraction gratings in arbitrarily shaped three-dimensional (3D) holographic media is described. A simple criterion for reliable data readout is obtained in terms of distribution of wave vectors of the gratings for the medium in the form of a rectangular parallelepiped. A particular write-read scheme is studied. The information capacity is estimated as a function of parameters of this scheme (wavelength, angle between rays, and minimum required signal-to-noise ratio).
