The 2020 ANS Virtual Winter Meeting, held November 15-19, 2020, had a theme of "Nuclear: Good for You." The aim was to highlight the many ways that nuclear science and technology contribute to improving the environment, health care, and overall human flourishing. The meeting had 142 technical sessions and almost 2,600 participants, a larger audience than for the 2020 ANS Virtual Annual Meeting, which drew more than 2,300 participants in June. Held in conjunction with the Winter Meeting were the Technology of Fusion Energy (TOFE) 2020 Virtual Meeting and the Consortium for Advanced Simulation of Light Water Reactors (CASL) Virtual Meeting. The Winter Meeting's opening plenary, on November 16, was moderated by ANS President Mary Lou Dunzik-Gougar and featured two keynote speakers, via Zoom-Alex Epstein of the Center for Industrial Progress and Jessica Lovering of the Good Energy Collective. Chosen with deliberation, the two speakers represented two very different political and philosophical views of energy production, but each made the case why nuclear is the best choice for a better world.
