The National Nuclear Security Administration recently sponsored a number of workshops on nuclear security and safety issues. At a workshop on radiological contamination and accident casualties held February 6-9 in Singapore, 111 physicians, nurses, hospital administrators, and emergency response personnel were trained in the proper response to and treatment of radiation casualties, whether from an accident or a terrorist attack. The workshop was conducted by the NNSA's Office of Emergency Operation's Radiation Emergency Assistance Center/Training Site (REAC/TS), headquartered in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
