The Georgia Public Service Commission is considering a proposal byGeorgia Power and supported by the PSC’s public staff to reduce thereporting requirements on the Vogtle nuclear plant expansion to asingle filing this year.Georgia Power and the PSC’s Public Interest Advocacy Staff, whichrepresents ratepayers in PSC proceedings, agreed in a stipulation filedJanuary 28 that the next semi-annual filing on the constructionprogress of Vogtle-3 and -4 could be delayed and combined with thesubsequent report. The combined report would be filed August 31 andno report would be filed in early 2019, according to the stipulation.The utility and the staff said in the stipulation that the reason forcombining the reports was because Georgia Power is conducting a“routine” verification of project staffing and productivity as well asthe “exceptionally busy regulatory calendar” this year. GeorgiaPower will submit its triennial integrated resource plan to the PSCand seek the first rate increase case since 2013, the company andstaff said in the stipulation.
