摘要

The articles contained in this special issue 'Managing Estuarine Sediments' relate to recent important work on sediments in a range of different estuaries. It was felt by the editors of this volume that while much has been written about the science and modelling of estuarine processes, there is something of a dearth of contributions relating to the ways in which estuaries can be managed to ensure that the interests of all those who have a stake in them are taken into account. Above all, it is important to understand the sedimentary regime, and what happens when that regime alters as a result of human-induced, or other changes.
