摘要

The paper by Warner and Tissot (2012) provides an interesting study of flood management strategies for the Galveston area. The paper estimates floodings taking into account both local vertical land motion and rates of sea level rise. Several extreme value distributions are compared using multiple statistical measures for the modelling of maximum annual storm surges based on the 105-year record of Galveston Pier 21, Texas. The major issue with the paper is the estimation of the rates of sea level rise (SLR) linked to global climate change. The increases in inundation frequencies are computed based on two possible sea level rise scenarios.
