Degree: When, where, what, what in? I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in physics from Augsburg College in 1977, and a PhD in physical oceanography from the University of Washington (UW) in 1988. The journey was fun. While at Augsburg, my advisor's research at the University of Minnesota provided the opportunity for summer and research jobs helping that group build electron guns and detectors for rockets to study the mechanics of the Aurora Borealis.
