A blueprint for workplace relations reform, which it is hoped will drive much-needed productivity growth, has been launched by the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association (APPEA). On the one hand, the sector's contribution to Australia's economic prosperity is undeniable, currently investing A$200 billion (US$185 billion) on new projects that have created more than 100,000 jobs, but on the other, as APPEA highlights in the report, there are a range of problems that the offshore oil and gas sector faces as a result of Australia's Fair Work Act 2009.
