Prije gotovo tri godine jedan od koautora na Okruglom stolu o razvitku petrokemije izložio je (i kasnije objavio u Nafti 54 (2003) 5, p. 193) "Pristup istraživanju mogućnosti razvitka bazne petrokemije u Hrvatskoj", gdje je razmatrao i utjecaj dominantnih vanjskih odrednica toga doba (sirovinske osnovice, njihova raspoloživost, kapaciteti rafinerija i bazne petrokemije, tržište petrokemikalija i sl.) naravno na lapidaran način. Sada je pod utjecajem visokih cijena nafte i visokih cijena baznih sirovina za olefinsku petrokemiju, prije svega baznog benzina, te uopće promijenjenih odnosa na tržištu nafte i petrokemikalija, valjalo istražiti međusobne, promijenjene, korelacije na tržištu, ali i sve one druge utjecaje, često bagatelizirane, koji mogu biti od važni za budućnost, ne samo u ekonomskom, tržišnom, značaju i značenju petrokemije, nego i u tehničko-tehnološkom, služeći se pri tome zanemarenim znanjima i dostignućima, od kojih su neka stara i osamdeset godina. Zaključci će, naravno, biti iznijeti na kraju članka.%Nearly three years ago one of the co-authors has on the Round Table on Petrochemistry Development elaborated (and later also published - cf. "Nafta 54" (2003) 5, p. 193) "An Approach to Exploring the Possibilities of Developing Base Petrochemistry in Croatia), in which he was reviewing also the impact of dominant external characteristics of the period (feed bases, their availability, refinery and base petrochemistry capacities, market of petrochemicals and the like) - of course, in a lapidary manner. Now, under the influence of high oil prices, and high prices of base feeds for olefin petrochemistry, primarily base naphtha/?/ and generally altered relations on the market of oil and petrochemicals, it was necessary to investigate the mutual (altered) correlations on the market, but also all the other - often neglected - impacts which may be influential in the future, not only in the economical (market) sense but also in that technical and technological, using (neglected) know-how and achievements, some of which are even eighty years old. Conclusions will, of course, be presented at the end of the paper.
