By 2030, Russia plans to increase oil production on the continental shelf, said Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. Continental shelf gas production should increase from current 57 billion m~3/y (2.0 trillion ft~3/y) to 230 billion m~3/y (8.1 trillion ft~3/y), and oil production from 13 million t/y to 66.2 million t/y. The economic effect should be $247 billion. Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) is producing about 32 000 bbl/d (5 088 m~3/d) of oil equivalent from the Bakken Shale, doubling its output from when it entered the area. Company has moved into a development phase in the shale located in North Dakota, Montana and Saskatchewan.
