Program o?ivljavanja ruskog naftnog polja Samotlor%According to the plans of the Russian-British company TNK-BP the giant Samotlor oil field should continue to produce until the year 2099. The company plans to invest $1 billion/year through 2011 to sustain production.rnThe field was discovered in 1965, on marshlands in the Khanty-Mansi area just north of Nizhnevartovsk in the Tyumen region. Production began in 1969 with cumulative production of 19.2 billion bbl (3.05 trillionm~3) of oil until now. The latest study found remaining recoverable volumes of more than 7 billion bbl (1.1 billionm~3) of oil and 3.53 trillion ft3 (100 billionm~3) of gas. This field is one of the world's five largest oil fields, TNK-BP said.
