1. At the beginning of November 2008, BASF and Gazprom launched natural gas and condensate production from the Achimov deposit at the joint venture project ZAO Achimgaz in Siberia. The plan is to recover 201 billion m~3 (7.1 trillion ft~3) of natural gas and 572 million m~3 (3.6 billion bbl) of condensate over a period of 40 years. The annual natural gas production during the plateau phase should be up to 7.5 billion m~3 (265 billion ft~3). The deposit lies at a depth of 3 658 m (12 000 ft) and has more complex structure than the overlaying layers. Three wells produce 1.5 million m~3 of gas a day. 2. Russian company Transneft and China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) signed an agreement on the construction of an oil pipeline from Skovorodino in East Siberia to Daging in North China. The pipeline's annual capacity should reach more than 18.8 million m~3 (118.5 million bbl).
