摘要

A detailed account on the development and empirical testing of a model of short term changes in share-holder values of larger and smaller firms involved in NPD alliances is given, using the event study methodology on data covering 167 asymmetric alliances in the IT and communications industries. The study examines the alliance, firms and partner characteristics as potential determinants of the changes in share-holder values resulting from the NPD alliances. Major benefits and limitations for the larger and smaller firms entering into the contracts are also highlighted.
