摘要

We present a sapphire photonic crystal fiber structure. The structure consists of six holes symmetrically arranged within the outer single crystal sapphire layer surrounding the solid single crystal sapphire core. The single crystal sapphire fibers produced are approximately 200 μm in diameter with hole sizes in the range of 10 μm. This represents the first time that a photonic crystal fiber has been fabricated in single crystal sapphire.
