This paper proposes design of asymmetric-clad hybrid multi-trench fibers (MTFs) with high-index arc to compensate the mode-area distortion at the commercial packaging radius of 7.5 cm for doped fiber laser applications. The effectively single-mode operation and low bending loss constraints are ensured by delocalizing higherorder modes through resonant coupling and gaps in outer trenches. A full-vectorial finite-element method is used to obtain the modal characteristics of proposed large mode-area hybrid MTF designs. The modified hybrid MTF exhibits an effective mode-area of similar to 1300 mu m(2) and high differential bending loss ratio of 120 between high-order modes and fundamental mode with power fraction of 71% in core at the bending radius of 7.5 cm.
