We show that research presented in Opt. Lett. 34, 301 (2009) applied questionable phosphor definitions and anquestionable simulation procedure for light-emitting diodes. Our simulation indicates that a one-dimensionalnphotonic crystal is beneficial for color control but cannot improve the light extraction as asserted in thatnLetter. © 2010 Optical Society of America
