The mountains of North Guangxi, China, are home to two Critically Endangered fir trees, Abies yuanbaoshanensis and A. ziyuanensis. Both are found within provincial nature reserves, but continued human disturbance to their habitat coupled with poor natural regeneration is threatening their future. In 2012, representatives from the nature reserves requested help from FFI China and the Global Trees Campaign to help the dwindling populations of these species to recover.
