It is with very great sadness that the editors of Oxford Economic Papers have to inform our readers of the death, on 20 July 2011, of our friend and colleague Mark Rogers, who served as Associate Editor of the journal from October 2006. Mark was an extremely dedicated editor and many authors have benefited from his lengthy and thoughtful comments which he often provided in addition to a full set of referee reports. When he had surgery for a brain tumour in the spring of 2008 he gave up editing for a time but by autumn of that year he was able to resume his editorial work. Unfortunately his health deteriorated again in 2010. In spite of increasing difficulties, Mark continued to edit his OEP papers, and attend editorial meetings, for as long as possible and it was only in early 2011 that he finally accepted that he could not take on any new papers. Even then he carried on with his few remaining submissions and since April this year we have accepted and sent to press three of his papers.
