The phrase "wireless ad hoc peer-to-peer networking" is probably not something you want to use on a first date or in casual conversation with the person seated next to you for a 14-hour flight to or from Seoul. But just in case it does come up, "wireless," in this case, is synonymous with mobility. The dictionary defines "ad hoc" as "fashioned from what is immediately available." And "peer-to-peer networking" means people connected directly to other people and the Internet in a way that is transparent to the users, without a lot of costly hardware or software interfaces. So wireless ad hoc peer-to-peer networking means people connected to other people via the kinds of devices they already own, like cell phones, personal digital assistants (PDAs), and laptop computers.
