There are few pleas-ures greater than meeting like minds over dinner well forti-fied by a good wine. A first-floor restau- rant on Portobello Road happened to be the location last week of one such meeting. It looks out over the infamous Portobello market, which has been downcycling and recycling household items for decades. It still sells a lot of local product (if we can call Kent local in west London) and it's a thriving economic force -especially on Saturdays when it fleeces the tourists for all they have. If you want to study a possible future for a sustainable economy, a few days in Portobello Road could be very instructive.
