The Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) launches next April in the UK. It is a legally binding energy saving scheme that will regulate therncommercial and public sectors and essentially put a price on the amount of carbon dioxide emissions an organisation emits. Packaging will be impacted directly by the legislation, since it requires a reduction in business energy footprints.rnInitially, organisations with an electricity bill of at least £500,000 per annum will need to comply with the CRC. They will have to monitor their CO2 emissions from direct energy use and electricity consumption, then annually purchase and surrender to government an equivalent number of allowances to cover their emissions.
