The guiding principle of the waste hierarchy, particularly as far as packaging is concerned, seems to follow the old adage 'less is more'. But, perhaps the most important question not being asked, is 'less of what?' Less waste, certainly. But does this automatically mean less packaging too? The waste hierarchy, which was unveiled at the start of last year by the European Parliament and Council, aims to establish a framework of priorities for tackling waste.
