摘要

The Courtauld Commitment has achieved its initial target to design out packaging waste growth by this year, but industry leaders have questioned a planned change of focus from weight to carbon footprinting.rnAt a briefing last week, waste minister Joan Ruddock and Waste and Resources Action Programme (Wrap) chief executive Liz Goodwin revealed that the scheme had reached the target despite growth in the grocery sector since Wrap was created in 2005.rnThe programme is to shift its focus from the weight of packaging to its CO_2 emissions and is now aiming to implement absolute reductions in packaging by 2010. It will also focus on tackling the issue of food waste through its Love Food Hate Waste campaign.rnRuddock said the government will "continue to support Wrap and welcomes plans to move away from weight to CO_2 as a better measure of the environmental cost of packaging".
