BASF is to raise the price in Europe of its Styrolux (SBC polymer) by €150 (￡120) per metric tonne.rnThe chemical giant said the measure was in addition to the increase announced in June, and was being implemented because the cost of raw materials, energy and transportation had risen further.rnThe Styrolux plastic material is mainly used for transparent food packaging, blister packaging and injection-moulded products in cosmetics, household and office equipment.rnBASF has also announced that in the fourth quarter of 2008 it will start building a second oxidising plant for the production of synthetic waxes at its Ludwigshafen site in Germany, which will double its production capacity.
