Amorim, the Portuguese cork giant, has revealed that it is developing a wine cork that could be removed from the bottle without the need for a corkscrew.rnThe development process is currently at the trial stage and is a response to the growing popularity of synthetic and screw-cap closures for wine bottles.rnSpeaking at a press conference where Amorim presented the results of a new life-cycle analysis comparing cork closures with rival products, Miguel Cabral, Amorim head of research and development, said: "We want corks to have the simplicity that screwcaps have brought to wine stoppers."
