Sonoco Alcore has enlisted waste management company Biffa to reprocess its recovered paper and cardboard ready to be turned into tubes and cores.rnThe contract covers Halifax-based Sonoco Alcore's 31 tube and core plants and six paper mills across the UK and the continent.rnSonoco Alcore site manager George Farrell said that the recovered paper and cardboard the company receives is often contaminated with plastic film or polystyrene.rnFarrell admitted that while the company has "a sophisticated screening process" to remove the unrecyclable material, it can still generate a significant amount of waste.rnHowever, the rise in landfill tax has made this route increasingly unattractive.
