According to the World Health Organisation, the proportion of pharmaceutical products on the open market that are counterfeit could be as high as 10%. Anecdotal evidence suggests that this is no exaggeration.rn"Counterfeiting is a huge problem for many of our customers, particularly those dealing with high-value consumer goods such as perfume, pharmaceuticals or spirits," affirms Steve Ellison, sales manager at marking and coding equipment manufacturer Markem-Imaje.
