The Green Alliance's call for all food packaging to be recyclable or compostable by 2013 is "neither realistic, useful nor environmentally sound", according to the Industry Council for Packaging and the Environment (Incpen). Although Incpen welcomed the Green Alliance's call for closer collaboration in the supply chain, director Jane Bickerstaffe said that focusing on waste would not ensure the most sustainable packaging material was chosen.
