Sealed Air has agreed a new deal with materials science company Ecovative to become exclusive licensee for the production, sales and distribution of its 'Mushroom Packaging' in Europe. Developed six years ago,the protective packaging is made from agricultural by-products and mushroom roots (mycelium). It has been targeted as a replacement for plastic foam and can be used to as a substitute for moulded or fabricated parts. Stuart Roberts, Sealed Air European director of marketing, said: "The protective packaging qualities of mycelium,coupled with the fantastic sustainability benefits it provides, is something that has major appeal to our customers."
