Stohart Group shareholders have given overwhelming backing to a controversial £101m property portfolio buy-out. The 18 properties in the portfolio of WA Developments and subsidiary WADI Developments are to be acquired for 412.35m plus £S8.85m in debt. The deal had attracted controversy because the portfolio was owned by Stobart chief executive Andrew Tinkler and chief operating officer William Stobart. The buy-back of the so-called "Moneypenny" portfolio is intended to strengthen and diversify the logistics' giants property portfolio. Last month it emerged that Eddie Stobart had bought a 10-year-old, 145,000 sq ft distribution facility at Appleton, Warrington in a deal rumoured to be worth close to £3m.
