Two-thirds of Europeans would support an EU ban on single-use plastic carrier bags, according to responses published last month to the European Commission's consultation on the issue. A total of 65% of people strongly agreed that measures needed to be adopted at EU level to reduce the use of carrier plastic bags. Some of the research questions have been criticised by some in the packaging industry as gearing the respondents towards answering in a way that led to them favouring a ban.
