Packaging reduction measures may be reversed because of European Commission proposals to make the minimum font size text on food label packs larger, according to an industry expert. Legal Impackt regulatory team leader Phil Dalton said that the packaging industry faces challenges over the Commission's proposal, for a regulation on the provision of food information to consumers [2008], to set a mandatory minimum 1.2mm font size text on food labels. It has proposed this in order to make food labels more visible to consumers.
