Cereal brand Jordans has told Packaging News that its switch to using virgin cartonboard in its packaging was not related to the scare over mineral oils that Swiss researchers have found in recycled cartonboard packs. Contrary to claims made by the BBC in March, which linked Jordans' move away from recycled cartonboard with a report over potential dangers of using recycled board, Jordans said the switch had been made last year and was not related. The report has been seized on by some in the sector to promote virgin cartonboard but dismissed by others as a scare story.
