Spanish corrugated firm SAICA has quashed doubts about the future of its recycled paper mill in Manchester by announcing the £290m project will go ahead, bringing praise from business secretary Lord Mandelson.rnThe announcement came as preliminary data for last year showed a 14% drop in total UK paper and board output. Mandelson said the mill, to be built at the Partington Wharf development, was a "great win" for the North West.rn"This shows great confidence in our economic future and has all the right ingredients. It is a long-term commit-ment in environmental technology which will be central to the UK's growth strategy," said Mandelson.
