Food packaging has numerous functions and is enormously important for the protec-tion of the food product. Besides this prima-ry protective function, the packaging serves as a source of Information, enhances the at-tractiveness of the product and guarantees the shelf-life of the food. In order to provide safe and high quality food products it is es-sential to protect the packaged food against oxygen, water vapour, chemical, and/or bio-logical impacts.
