摘要

This book deals with the study of regional and economic growth in advanced countries. Its primary purpose is to clarify which mechanisms are at work and the secondary purpose is to clarify which development policies ought to be applied. Therefore, the book is concerned with, first of all, the growth of both leading and lagging regions in advanced countries, with a particular focus on innovation which is seen as a process based on knowledge and learning. Furthermore, it deals with regional competition and regional attractiveness. Additionally, it focuses on the agents of innovation and competition.
