摘要

One of the most difficult challenges facing Systems Architects is the development of a persuasive and comprehensive decision matrix of architecture tradeoffs for product development. At stake are the fundamental drivers for marketing success: performance, product cost, time to market, expense, and potential product longevity in a fiercely competitive market. Unfortunately, all too often system architects make their decision based on a simple comparison of the cost for power conversion of fully configured systems. This is not uncommon, because detailed analyses require extensive efforts and significantly greater information for the decision-making process. The complexity of new systems and the interdependence of the powering architecture and system performance make such simple comparisons obsolete, misleading and could lead to the wrong decision.
