摘要

Many problems confront psychological interventions for change. Some reside within the discipline (e.g., inexperience with policy development and the external validity issue). Other problems are raised by value issues and the controversial nature of policy debates that lie beyond the discipline. This article discusses these issues and then focuses on yet another concern-the sustain-ability of psychological interventions. It calls for cross-level analyses that avoid the common ecological and compositional fallacies, and it introduces and illustrates yet another error common in psychology-the single process fallacy. The article concludes by maintaining that normative change is a prerequisite for sustaining interventions. Norms are persistent; unless they are altered, psychological efforts are unlikely to be either sustainable or effective.
