Highland Township contended on April 21 that Seneca Resources Corp. lacks standing to challenge the township's ban on underground injection control (UIC) wells used for the disposal of natural gas brines because Seneca's well permit application is still pending. The case is in federal court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. (See issue of Feb. 28,2015 P. 13.) The township says, "Seneca has not, and cannot, suffer an injury in fact from the challenged ordinance, and therefore, any alleged injury is not redressable by this court. Accordingly, Seneca does not have standing and its amended complaint must be dismissed for lack of jurisdiction."
