Azmat Gani is an Associate Professor in Economics at Sultan Qaboos University (Oman). He earned his PhD in Development Economics from Massey University (New Zealand). He specializes in applied economics policy-oriented work relating to institutions and trade policy, economics of governance in developing countries, pollution and population health. His current research focuses on governance and trade, corruption and natural resource exports, business environment and foreign direct investment, and water and air quality. He has published several papers in these areas covering Fiji and the Pacific Island countries, Asia-Pacific and the oil endowed Arab economies.
