摘要

As of mid-2004, a total of five wells had been drilled on the Scotian Slope. Three of these were undertaken in the 1980s; the other two are much more recent, drilled in 2002 and 2003. The first three were targeted on large structures defined by 2-D seismic data and reported no gas shows. The two more recent wells were also located on large prospects, but benefited from more recent 2-D and some 3-D data, as well as updated processing methods. These two wells both encountered flowing gas and, though information from them remains confidential, they are considered to have confirmed the existence of important petroleum system elements.
