The James Lime play in East Texas and western Louisiana represents a new exploration and development trend of strong potential significance. Overlooked for decades, or else held to a secondary or even tertiary target status, the James is now known to be gas-bearing on a regional basis, although the true continuity of charge within the formation remains undetermined. The current play was stimulated in large part by elevated gas prices, which reached historic levels in 2000-2001.
